The Story Behind Women Thrive Collective: A Community Built on Sisterhood
There's a reason isolation makes everything harder and connection makes almost everything more bearable. Healing doesn't happen in a vacuum. It happens in rooms, real or virtual, where someone else says "me too" and means it.
That belief is the whole reason Women Thrive Collective exists.
How it started
Almost three years ago, a woman going through a hard season was told by her therapist to find community. Not therapy, not more advice, just people. She looked around and couldn't find quite what she needed, so she built it herself. She called it Seeking a Sisterhood, and the group's first offering was something simple: Friday Night Let's Heal Together, a space for women to show up and be honest about what they were carrying, and to know they are not alone.
I found that group about six months in. I showed up to one session and knew immediately I wanted to be part of whatever this was. I offered to help with facilitation, and over time, as her life pulled her in a different direction, I took on running the group. What I inherited was a good idea with a good heart behind it. What I wanted to build on top of it was a safe space for more voices, more kinds of content, and more ways for women to actually find each other, not just attend the same call every week.
That's when Making Friends in Adulthood came into being, and that's when this community started to grow fast. It turns out a huge number of women are quietly looking for the same thing: not a drinking buddy, not a group chat full of complaints, but real, unpretentious connection with other women who get it.
As the community grew, so did the vision. It became clear that supporting a community this size and this alive takes more than one person and one Meetup group. That's how Women Thrive Collective came to be: the wider container that lets Seeking a Sisterhood keep growing, and lets other women bring their gifts into it too.
What makes this different
Here's the truth. I show up to these groups exactly as I am in real life. I don't primp. I don't front. I usually remember to brush my hair. Some days, I'm in my jammies, and I'm not always wearing a bra. Some days are stressful, and some aren't. But I show up as I am, and give every woman in the room permission to do the same.
Sometimes I share about things that are painful, and I have shared real tears in these groups myself. I find catharsis in vulnerability, and I know that as I am vulnerable, it gives the next woman permission to do the same. I am here as a real woman, having a real week, the same as each and every other woman in the room.
There is no "good hair day" required here. All versions of messy are welcome. Because so many of us spend our days holding it all together, then falling apart in private, in silence, where no one can see. This is one place where you don't have to hide the falling apart. You get to be held in it instead. In sisterhood.
Friendship is medicine. Community is medicine. Sisterhood is medicine. We practice that here, on purpose, every time we gather.
And collectively, we create the space to move beyond the hurt and the trauma, into the more healed, whole, and empowered version of ourselves. We don't linger here. We acknowledge what is, so we can embrace where we've been, and find the strength, meaning, and gratitude inside it. That healing is what prepares us for whatever comes next.
What women are saying about Friday Night Let's Heal Together

"Let's heal together was a nice, calming place to speak." — Beth
"Before attending this event, I was in a dark place missing my kids and desperately needed to connect with others who were on the same healing journey I had yet to embark on. I entered a virtual space where people were working on their own journeys, each with unique stories, but all grappling with the same pain that I was. With open arms, I felt safe and heard."
What women are saying about Making Friends in Adulthood

"I really liked the meeting. I was very happy to meet women from various backgrounds. What I took from the meeting is that regardless of our ages, ethnic background, or social status, women are dealing with the same issues, and most important, women can benefit from each other's support." — Kaba
"It felt good to be around other women my age, and to know that we're all going through something different but the same." — Sandy
"Intentional, intelligent, compassionate group of women. Felt very safe and welcomed."
Those aren't outliers. We have over 1,200 five-star reviews across our events, and the through-line in nearly all of them is the same: safety, honesty, and being genuinely seen.
A community, not a funnel
Almost everything we offer is free and always will be. That's not a marketing hook, it's a value. We believe a rising tide lifts all boats, and a woman doesn't need to pay us anything to belong here, to be supported here, or to be valued. We also offer some paid small group programs and experiences for women who want to go deeper, but that is an addition to the community, never the price of admission to it.
We are also growing the group of women who help deliver content and support inside this space, women who have walked their own healing journey and have something real to bring to others. If that's you, we'd love to hear from you.
If this sounds like your kind of women's healing community
Whether you're looking to make friends as an adult woman, find a genuine sisterhood community, or simply want a safe space to heal, connect, and be exactly who you are on any given day, there's a seat for you here.
Come to a free event. See what it feels like. No performance required, no perfect version of yourself needed. If it resonates, you're one of us. If it's not for you, that's alright too. But if you've been craving real connection with women who get it, we're glad you found us.
